A Beautiful Saturday in August

I guess most cities have a farmers' market. Montgomery has a great one. Rob and I love to go the farmers' market. There's nothing better than fresh vegetables. During the summer we love to get zipper and cream 40 peas. We love the little red potatoes, squash, colored peppers, tomatoes, cabbage, and so much more.
Ah, watermelons...I love watermelon. They will be gone soon just like summer is almost gone.



Rob has become buds with the nice lady at this stand. We usually buy a slice for each of us of her delicious cakes. We like the German chocolate and red velvet best.


I love flowers and plants and we have bought a lot of beautiful plants at the farmers' market.

I just love fall! Except for Christmas, I like it best of all. I love football and the leaves and the cool days and nights. I had seen that Home Depot had their really big mums on sale for $6.99. This picture is Rob getting us some mums. We both like yellow as our favorite color.






Look at all these blackbirds on the electric lines on Chantilly. I just thought it was a beautiful sight.

Master Bathroom Makeover

Our master bathroom was so incredibly blah! I guess a lot of people probably feel that way. I had wanted granite countertops forever, but the estimates we had gotten before were always too high it seemed.

Boring!!! Ugliest faucets ever!

One of my friends told me about a company that Hardy Royal owned that did granite countertops. The company is Premiere Countertops. I knew Hardy from high school. He's a really good guy. We drove out to his shop on Wares Ferry Road and checked out the granite remnants he had and picked one out. It was so reasonable compared to other companies we had gotten estimates from. It was about 1/2! That is what we call a deal and a blessing. Hardy came out and did the measurements and then went back to his shop and cut it out. I was sooooo excited!

We bought the undermount bath sinks from Hardy, too. I think they are really nice, too.
I knew I had to have some new faucets! We went to Home Depot and we couldn't find anything we liked in the store, but I found these online for only like $129 each! Plus they had gotten great customer reviews online which I always look for before I buy. There were many in the store that were like $300-$500 each. That was unbelievable. I really wanted oil rubbed bronze faucets but I thought it wouldn't look right because all the other fixtures we had in the master bath are chrome and I just didn't think Rob would be too keen on replacing them all :-)
I just really loved the look of these faucets. I thought they looked a lot more expensive than what we paid for them.
I took a close-up of the granite. Rob and I both had picked it out and like the same remnant. That was, as Martha Stewart says, a good thing!
The final product. I added some new bath rugs from JC Penney (they had a 50% off sale during the month of August :-) ).
Bodhi seems to like the "new" bathroom, too. I guess it meets his approval :-)

Free at Last from that Awful Carpet

We had the most awful, ugly carpet in America I know for sure. Here Bodhi is modeling just how bad some of it is. The carpet really needed changing when we bought the house in 2004. We had planned to replace it but, as most people know, real life usually intervenes and something else comes up that requires your time, attention and money. But, finally, this year in July 2010 we couldn't take it anymore and we got new flooring!!! I did a lot of online research and we finally decided on Home Depot. We went to the store to actually look at samples to make sure it looked as good in person as it did online.


If the carpet had not already been a mess, Bodhi would have taken care of it. From the moment we got him as a puppy in November 2009 he began slowly and methodically destroying the carpet. He loved chewing it and playing with it.

Home Depot delivered the boxes. I did not know this but the laminate flooring has to be in your home for at least 72 hours prior to installation to get acclimated to the environment.
We chose Pergo laminate called Caribbean Walnut. We both liked it, which as most married folks know, it is not always an easy feat to find something both of you like.

The van of the installers. There were 3 guys from Georgia. They got to our house shortly after 11 a.m. and did not leave that night until almost 1 a.m. It was quite an experience!!
Oh, we are so thankful. It looks so much better than that awful carpet. It was a long wait but so worth it.

Three's a Charm

Abby turned three on July 12, 2010. Wow, where has the time gone? She asked for a French poodle party and Shannon also found her the most adorable French poodle outfit to wear for her party. Robert didn't get to come because Home Depot was installing our new flooring that day and someone had to stay at the house. It was a great day and Abby really seemed to enjoy her presents :-)

What a beautiful cake from Publix...and it was delicious,too.

Alex was such a good big brother. He helped Abby with her gifts and picked the trash up.
Abby decided later into the party that it was time to be a fairy.




You really can't argue with cash as your present...

I just love the little suit that Shannon got Abby for her party. I think she got it at Name Dropper.
This is what Robert and I gave Abby. I got her something for her room. I knew she would get so many toys that it might be nice to get something different.
