A Beautiful Saturday in August

I guess most cities have a farmers' market. Montgomery has a great one. Rob and I love to go the farmers' market. There's nothing better than fresh vegetables. During the summer we love to get zipper and cream 40 peas. We love the little red potatoes, squash, colored peppers, tomatoes, cabbage, and so much more.
Ah, watermelons...I love watermelon. They will be gone soon just like summer is almost gone.



Rob has become buds with the nice lady at this stand. We usually buy a slice for each of us of her delicious cakes. We like the German chocolate and red velvet best.


I love flowers and plants and we have bought a lot of beautiful plants at the farmers' market.

I just love fall! Except for Christmas, I like it best of all. I love football and the leaves and the cool days and nights. I had seen that Home Depot had their really big mums on sale for $6.99. This picture is Rob getting us some mums. We both like yellow as our favorite color.






Look at all these blackbirds on the electric lines on Chantilly. I just thought it was a beautiful sight.

Frontgate...Is There a Better Catalog Out There? No Way!

I just love Frontgate! If I had unlimited money I would buy many many things from them but their items are just too expensive. But the month of August 2010 they were having a good deal. All orders were free shipping plus 15% off. Plus, the bed I wanted to get for my baby for his birthday was on sale, too! This month only they also were throwing in the bone shaped pillow with the pet's name monogrammed on it for free if you bought the pet bed (normally $20). I just felt it was meant to be! So I got the mat I had wanted to get forever and it was regular $79.99 on sale for $49 plus the 15% off and free shipping. Another meant to be :-)
I hope Bodhi likes his birthday present! He will be one soon! I can't believe we've had him almost a year. The time has flown by. He is so much fun and brings Rob and I so much joy.

Baskets for Babies

I had two baby presents I wanted to give to some wonderful people. One was the Bledsoes. Rodney is my dear Barry and Judy's son and I used to babysit him (how old that makes me feel!). He and his beautiful wife Carrie had a baby boy and I put together a basket of items for them. Also, my wonderful oncology nurse, April, had a baby boy and I made a basket for her, too. It was so much fun and I hope they both like them!

Master Bathroom Makeover

Our master bathroom was so incredibly blah! I guess a lot of people probably feel that way. I had wanted granite countertops forever, but the estimates we had gotten before were always too high it seemed.

Boring!!! Ugliest faucets ever!

One of my friends told me about a company that Hardy Royal owned that did granite countertops. The company is Premiere Countertops. I knew Hardy from high school. He's a really good guy. We drove out to his shop on Wares Ferry Road and checked out the granite remnants he had and picked one out. It was so reasonable compared to other companies we had gotten estimates from. It was about 1/2! That is what we call a deal and a blessing. Hardy came out and did the measurements and then went back to his shop and cut it out. I was sooooo excited!

The after shot...wow, granite makes all the difference in the world. It just makes it look like a new room.
We bought the undermount bath sinks from Hardy, too. I think they are really nice, too.
I knew I had to have some new faucets! We went to Home Depot and we couldn't find anything we liked in the store, but I found these online for only like $129 each! Plus they had gotten great customer reviews online which I always look for before I buy. There were many in the store that were like $300-$500 each. That was unbelievable. I really wanted oil rubbed bronze faucets but I thought it wouldn't look right because all the other fixtures we had in the master bath are chrome and I just didn't think Rob would be too keen on replacing them all :-)
I just really loved the look of these faucets. I thought they looked a lot more expensive than what we paid for them.
I took a close-up of the granite. Rob and I both had picked it out and like the same remnant. That was, as Martha Stewart says, a good thing!
The final product. I added some new bath rugs from JC Penney (they had a 50% off sale during the month of August :-) ).
Bodhi seems to like the "new" bathroom, too. I guess it meets his approval :-)

No changes on this side.

Wind Creek State Park

We went to Lake Martin and had a room at Wind Creek State Park staying in a cabin. Dogs were allowed in the cabin we stayed in so we brought Bodhi.
We stayed in Cabin #2. It was soooo hot. All the other cabins had central air but ours only had a window unit. The cabin had no tv, radio, phone or internet!



Rob kept calling for Bodhi to come out on the pier with him but Bodhi, as scared as ever :-), wouldn't come.


Our little cautious puppy...he has to check out the new surroundings a nose at a time.
